Emergency Communications Dispatcher

Primary Responsibilities
Receive emergency and nonemergency calls; dispatch police, public-safety and facilities resources; operate radio, telephone, CAD, CCTV and alarm systems; coordinate with 911, fire, EMS and other public-safety answering points; maintain accurate records; and provide calm, professional service during stressful situations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience with multi-line telephone or call-center systems
- At least one year of customer-service experience
- At least one year of computer data entry and information-retrieval experience or comparable experience
- The ability to pass the required background, medical and psychological evaluations
Certifications and Hiring Process
- The selected employee must obtain DPSST Basic Telecommunicator certification within 18 months of hire and LEDS certification within the first six months.
- OHSU may administer a CritiCall 911 aptitude test during the interview process.
- Dispatch, radio, 911, CAD and alarm-monitoring experience are preferred.
