About the role

The Aircraft Maintenance Technician position at West Star is a full-time, on-site role with a 2nd shift schedule from Monday to Thursday, 3pm-1am. The shift includes a 10% to 15% premium, paid lunch, 3-day weekends, and formal airframe training. After 3 years, there's an opportunity to transfer to 1st shift.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general mechanical tasks on aircraft and related systems.
  • Removal and installation of panels and components.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving aircraft system/component issues.
  • Engine removal/installations.
  • Operating ground support equipment.
  • Inspection and evaluation of the aircraft and components.
  • Aircraft movement and assistance in performance runs/taxiing.
  • Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment, and tooling.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English.
  • Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
  • Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
  • Maintain customer-oriented work habits.

Requirements

  • A High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.
  • AMT I: Airframe or Powerplant license is required. Airframe license is preferred. 0-2 years of experience in aviation maintenance, avionics, or similar.
  • AMT II: Airframe or Powerplant license is required. Airframe license is preferred. 2-4 years of experience working in aviation maintenance. Experience working on corporate aircraft is preferred but not essential.
  • AMT III: Airframe license is required; in addition, Powerplant license is highly preferred. 4-6+ years’ experience in aviation maintenance. Experience working on corporate aircraft is highly preferred but not essential.
  • AMT IV (Master): Airframe and Powerplant license is required. 6+ years’ experience in aviation maintenance. Subject matter expert in all areas of the job.

Qualifications

  • Self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable transportation to get to work each day.
  • Attend work every day as scheduled, including overtime and weekend assignments.
  • Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.

SkillsBasic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases.

Pay

Competitive hourly rate based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Locations & Lifestyle

Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot. Work outside during aircraft runs will occur. Varied positions in and around the aircraft. Physical requirements include lifting 50 lbs, routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting, and routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands. Climb ladders and stairs, work in small, restricted areas, standing for long periods of time.
