Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking an Embedded Space Software Engineering Manager to join our team in Linthicum, MD. The manager will provide technical oversight through the entire software development lifecycle (including design, development, integration, and maintenance) of software components, along with support of system integration and test. Additionally, the manager will lead and guide a matrixed functional team of software engineers through software process, career development, and performance appraisals. The software manager will participate in proposal generation, staffing allocations, recruiting, and execution of software projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate a team through challenging software development activities using an Agile development approach.
  • Guide the team in decomposing requirements into agile features, software design, coding, testing, integration, and systems test to deliver enhanced secure capabilities.
  • Provide technical oversight for the entire software development lifecycle, including design, development, integration, and maintenance.
  • Support system integration and test activities.
  • Lead a matrixed functional team of software engineers, focusing on software process, career development, and performance appraisals.
  • Participate in proposal generation, staffing allocations, recruiting, and execution of software projects.
  • Guide the team in applying appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development lifecycle.
  • Manage program schedule and budget data through Control Account Management.
  • Create and execute Agile roadmaps and plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or another STEM discipline with a minimum of 5 years of software development experience working on embedded real-time systems – OR – Master’s degree in the same fields with 3 years of software development experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access (not required to start).
  • Experience in software engineering/development in C++ or Python.
  • Experience with embedded software development or software development that integrates and controls hardware.
  • Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience as a lead for a software development team, providing direction to team members.
  • Control Account Management experience in managing program schedule and budget data.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Experience leading a software development team.
  • Experience as an IPT lead, Scrum Master, and/or Product Owner.
  • Experience in people management, including career development and performance management.
  • Experience managing a budget for technical activities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and logical reasoning skills with the ability to solve issues and predict potential programmatic and technical risks.
  • Experience with the Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket).

Pay

Primary level salary range: $127,800.00 - $181,200.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; actual offers consider the scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Schedule

This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.
