Responsibilities

  • Apply technical capabilities and influence direction in the development of firefighter equipment, gas detectors, and industrial worker gear with sensor technologies (e.g., thermal imaging, environmental sensing, location, infrared/lasers).
  • Work within an IoT-style ecosystem of physical/digital products with wireless and wired connectivity (e.g., AWS, cellular, GNSS, BLE).
  • Develop safety-critical software (SIL, security).
  • Own features, quality of delivery, and the translation of customer needs into elegant, robust, and timely technical implementations.

  • Collaborate with teams across global locations to drive innovation and creativity.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in real-time embedded system and software design/implementation in C/C++.
  • Ability to distill deeply technical information and gain buy-in for project or design direction (written and verbal).
  • Adaptable mindset that thrives within business, project, or technology ambiguity or constraints.
  • Agility and creativity in solving complex challenges to achieve the best result for the product, team, and company.
  • Track record of delivering solutions and influencing the entire development process.
  • Experience taking stakeholder input and creating or updating architecture/design to efficiently fulfill needs.
  • Ability to own, teach, and communicate architecture/design to the development team and maintain it through selective changes.
  • Identify and mitigate risks throughout development and testing of embedded systems/software.
  • Guide a team through solution development.

Skills

Preferred:

  • Proficiency in leading hardware bring-up efforts and diagnosing issues at the board, silicon, and driver layers.
  • Experience with wireless communications (BLE, Cellular, etc.).
  • Skills in rapid prototyping, software design patterns, CMake, CI, and various software development tools.

Education and Experience

  • BSCE, BSEE, or relevant technical discipline, preferably from an ABET or similarly accredited program.
  • This position is available at two career levels based on experience:
    • Staff III: Minimum 4 years of relevant industry experience.
    • Senior: Minimum 6 years of relevant industry experience.
  • MS degree may be substituted for up to 1 year of relevant experience.
