Embedded Integrated Prevention Coordinator

About the role

The primary purpose of the position is to serve as a non-clinical trainer and to collaborate with the Deployed Resiliency Counselor (DRC) and the command leadership in the coordination and provision of integrated primary prevention programs and services. The success of this position is based on the incumbent's ability to successfully embed within the command and operate in a shipboard environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operates within the command and embeds within the unit to assess training needs and ensure the delivery of a wide variety of educational programs and services.
  • Works with command leadership and Command Resilience Teams (CRTs) to identify existing or potential risk factors and recommend preventive measures.
  • Assists the command leadership in participating in prevention-based research.
  • Reviews and coordinates relevant primary prevention actions and projects across programs and ensures completion dates are met within established timeframes.
  • Develops population-based and/or targeted prevention efforts to support the unique needs of the installation, command, and/or unit level.
  • Executes core functions of an optimized prevention system, such as engagement, implementation, evaluation, and integration.
  • Serves as a non-clinical trainer/educator and collaborates with the DRC and the command leadership in assessing the training need and ensuring the delivery of a wide variety of educational programs and services.
  • Facilitates prevention classes focusing on building resiliency, enhancing adaptation to the unique challenges of military life, and reducing unplanned losses.
  • Provides FFSC training, covering the entire portfolio of WFL, CAP, NGS, and SAPR training based on commands' training needs.
  • Delivers routine presentations to leadership on command prevention efforts and their impact.
  • Delivers ongoing primary prevention training and education to build and sustain prevention capacity and capability.
  • Deploys to deliver Departure and Separation and Return & Reunion workshops.
  • Supports the homeport FFSC general and crisis response programs, including emergency preparedness and mass care, when not deployed.
  • Assists the DRC and the command in coordinating special project activities related to CAP, SAPR, and WFL programs.
  • Refers Sailors for counseling and/or other services to the DRC or the homeport FFSC.
  • Coordinates with the DRC in planning scheduled workshops, programs, command briefs, and general military trainings (GMTs).
  • Advises leadership on data-informed actions, prevention methodologies, assessment, and prevention training.
  • Operationalizes all applicable policies and synchronizes prevention requirements where possible.
  • Provides consultative advice and works closely with command prevention and resilience personnel to leverage insights, interpret protective and risk data, and implement and execute primary prevention policies, programs, processes, and practices.
  • Coordinates with key stakeholders on issues related to integrated prevention methodologies and practices.
  • Identifies efficiencies in the development and delivery of primary prevention and ensures that occupational health, social and organizational psychology, public health, and/or other behavioral and social science perspectives are considered in prevention planning.
  • Complies with Department of Defense (DoD), Department of the Navy (DON), and Service (US Navy, US Marine Corps, as applicable) policies and local directives.
  • Maintains program and administrative reference materials, project files, available policies, procedures, and written instructions from the supervisor.
  • Submits all data and data collection forms into the Fleet and Family Support Management Information System (FFSMIS) in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Conducts thorough reviews of Standards of Procedures (SOPs) and service delivery to ensure adherence to established policy, confidentiality, and quality assurance.
  • Maintains accurate statistical frameworks for program data collection and reports.
  • Maintains physical fitness for shipboard duty and completes annual physical examinations.
  • May be required to travel, deploy, or provide services at homeport.
  • Must have skills sufficient to provide technical assistance in prevention-related areas, skill in delivering education services, consulting with management, networking and collaborating with all military services, and using Microsoft Office Programs.
  • Must have the ability to identify needs, trends, and performance measures to evaluate program effectiveness and provide recommendations for process improvements, effectively communicate with all levels of management, staff, and military personnel, compose written reports and material clearly, concisely, and effectively, deliver evidenced-based prevention training/education to a wide variety of audiences, use data management and reporting systems to collect and organize data drawn from databases, and maintain accurate statistical framework for program data collection and reports.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must pass all applicable records and background checks.
  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
  • Must be available for shipboard work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
  • Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
  • Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

  • 40% pay differential while deployed.

$83,935 - $97,982 per year
