Embedded Controls Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and validate embedded control software for industrial digital power electronics systems.
  • Architect and implement firmware for real-time control on MCUs, DSPs, or FPGAs using C/C++ or similar low-level languages.
  • Apply control algorithms for voltage, current, power, and thermal regulation in digitally controlled power converters.
  • Develop and maintain embedded firmware for the digital control of industrial power electronics, including systems using SCRs and IGBTs to generate regulated DC and AC output power.
  • Implement firmware-level protection, monitoring, and diagnostic features to support industrial power reliability requirements.
  • Participate in technical reviews and contribute to documentation, coding standards, and version control practices.
  • Support product validation, manufacturing transitions, and field troubleshooting as needed.
  • Debug complex embedded systems in lab environments.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware, systems, and product teams to define software requirements and interface specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, or Controls Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in embedded controls, embedded software, or real-time systems.
  • Strong skills in C/C++, RTOS environments, and digital control of industrial power converters.
  • Experience using microcontrollers or DSPs and working directly with hardware such as ADCs, PWMs, timers, and interrupts.
  • Understanding of power electronics and control theory.
  • Comfortable using standard lab tools.
  • Experience with embedded web servers and web interface development is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Comfortable debugging complex embedded systems in lab environments.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware, systems, and product teams to define software requirements and interface specifications.
  • Occasional travel up to 10% may be required.
