Eligibility Operations Worker - Kearney

About the role
We are seeking Eligibility Operations Workers to join our team in Kearney, NE. This role involves determining eligibility for various assistance programs in our Economic Assistance or Medicaid teams. Your work significantly impacts whether Nebraskans receive the necessary food, financial assistance, supportive services, or medical care.
Responsibilities
- Participate in 6-8 weeks of paid training to prepare for eligibility determination tasks.
- Review and verify applications for assistance, including financial and demographic information via electronic, phone, or in-person exchanges.
- Use call center software and phones, including automated call distribution and voice response systems, in addition to other job duties.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: 24 semester hours of post-high school education in behavioral sciences, public/business administration, social sciences, education, or closely related fields, or relevant work experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in human services, case management, or eligibility determination for financial assistance programs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Customer service principles, interviewing practices, and understanding sociological conditions influencing human behavior.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Empathy, respect, and the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, protect confidential information, interpret and apply program regulations, and exercise critical thinking and independent judgment in determining eligibility.
