Elgin Market - Perishables Rep - Part time

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service by taking orders in person or by telephone and answering product questions
• Prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product daily while maintaining food safety and sanitation standards
• Slice, package, label, and rotate products; scan items on Telxon for production; assist in technical areas as needed
• Use suggestive selling techniques to meet customer needs and build department sales; make regular announcements about freshly-produced items
• Clean and sanitize display cases; properly operate and maintain equipment in compliance with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards

Aguas

• Peel, cut, and chop fresh fruits and vegetables
• Prepare fresh specialty drinks and food products specific to the Aguas department

Floral

• Design floral arrangements and provide a variety of fresh, quality products
• Design and execute merchandising programs; track seasonal records when appropriate

Market

• Cut, trim, and prepare meat for service counters and self-service; ensure proper product rotation and storage
• Maintain coolers and freezers; weigh, price, and package selections; operate power meat prep and process equipment

Produce

• Stock and rotate product to ensure freshness; assist floral department when needed
• Communicate product knowledge to customers by explaining and providing samples; cut, wrap, and price produce for the sales floor; maintain signing program

Seafood

• Maintain knowledge of various fish and shellfish
• Weigh, price, and package selections; maintain coolers and freezers

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older
• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent)
• Customer service and communication skills
• Computer systems knowledge (Telxon, ACR, label machine)
• Completion of Company Orientation and Safety Training
