Elevator Superintendent - Carthage, MO
This is an exempt level position responsible for wheat elevator operations at a 9,000 cwt/day flour mill. The Elevator Superintendent oversees all aspects of the department from wheat unloading through transfer to the flour mill, playing a leading role in developing and implementing programs and standard operating procedures. The ideal candidate maintains ADM’s high standards for safety, quality, production, and efficiency while training and developing operational staff.
Responsibilities
- Manage and plan production for wheat unloading, blending, and transfer systems.
- Work with the commercial team to maximize efficiency and coordinate rail movement and production scheduling.
- Proactively lead and support operational excellence initiatives.
- Provide technical knowledge for processes and equipment to optimize performance.
- Utilize production personnel and equipment safely and efficiently to achieve maximum capacity, performance, and quality.
- Plan, initiate, and execute plant improvement projects on time and within budget.
- Train and develop operational staff continuously.
Health, Safety & Environmental
- Facilitate and ensure adherence to safety laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Collaborate with regional and local management to develop and implement health and safety programs, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinate and participate in audits, prioritizing and tracking completion of findings.
- Correct unsafe behavior and conditions promptly.
- Maintain required health, safety, and environmental records and documentation.
- Perform safety audits and model exemplary safety practices.
Sanitation & Food Safety
- Ensure the facility maintains world-class sanitation standards.
- Communicate food safety, sanitation, and quality programs to plant supervisors and hourly employees.
- Prepare the facility for and participate in regulatory, third-party, customer, and company audits.
Requirements
- Strong commitment to employee safety.
- Degree in a related engineering field preferred, or a minimum of five years of hands-on production supervisory experience.
- Proficiency in leadership, problem-solving, self-motivation, organizational skills, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Confident and courteous manner with established leadership skills.
- Ability to hear and speak clearly, read, comprehend, and communicate orally and in writing.
- Physical requirements include standing and walking for long periods, climbing stairs and ladders, working with tools, working in confined spaces, and exposure to extreme temperatures.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $72,900.00 - $131,800.00. Base pay may vary depending on market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will receive overtime pay for qualifying hours.
