NATURE OF POSITION
Responsible for providing learning experiences in the field of technology or information systems in the classroom and supervision of students in a supportive and positive climate that develops in each student the skills, attitudes, and knowledge of school standards and expectations.
Achieving academic excellence may require that the Technology Teacher work collaboratively with members of the school faculty, staff, and parents. Reports to: Principal.
Duties
- IT Support
- Education and Training
- Pursue ongoing professional development as needed and approved.
- IT Administration
- Attend IT Department meetings as needed.
- Attend Faculty meetings as needed.
- Attend the Information Technology advisory board meetings as needed.
- Assist in the development of the IT budget.
- Academic
- Teach technology and computer-related courses to students in accordance with school and diocesan curricula.
- Models effective use of technology in the classroom and media center for teachers and students.
- Coordinate/Assist School Principal, School Technology Coordinator, and/or Information Technology Director on Technology Education for students and curriculum integration.
Position Requirements
- This position requires a mature, detail-oriented individual with above-average keyboard skills, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, the ability to understand and follow instructions, and the ability to work independently.
- The person should possess an overall knowledge of school operations.
- The position requires knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning.
- This position also requires the ability to use and teach the use of electronic equipment for word processing, data management, information literacy, visual and audio presentations, communication, and troubleshooting.
- Cordial and effective communication with priests, parents, students, faculty, vendors, committee members, officers of church councils, and Diocesan office personnel is an ongoing necessity.
- This person should be a self-starter, capable of independent problem-solving and decision-making within the scope of authority provided.
EDUCATIONAL/WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- A Bachelor's Degree or higher, preferably in Education, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- If the applicant does not have a teaching certification, they must be willing to work towards obtaining one.
- The ideal candidate would have education and/or experience in both education and information technology.
