About the School

The Charter School for Applied Technologies (CSAT) prepares students to attain family-sustaining careers by integrating career exploration and a lifelong learning culture. Opened in 2001 with 700 students in grades K-6, CSAT now serves approximately 2,300 students from 19 different school districts across Western New York through three distinct buildings: Elementary, Middle, and High Schools.

CSAT offers a supportive culture with professional development, training, and mentorship. The school provides extensive classroom support and assistance with curriculum and instruction, seeking ambitious, creative, and dedicated staff to help realize its vision.

About the Role

The CSAT teacher is responsible for communicating knowledge to students in an interesting, stimulating, and effective manner using a variety of instructional methodologies and curriculum resources. This is a long-term substitute position for Grade 5 during the 2026-27 school year, reporting to the Elementary School Principal.

Responsibilities

  • Implement school and district policies and procedures, as well as CSAT school performance standards.
  • Collaborate with the team on curriculum and student needs, including curriculum development and implementation.
  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse student populations.
  • Establish and manage student-directed classrooms where students work independently and in groups.
  • Develop and use rubrics for instruction and assessment to evaluate student products and performances.
  • Integrate technology into the instructional program and demonstrate professional use of technology tools.
  • Create and manage a responsive learning environment that fosters safety, creativity, and full student development.
  • Develop and maintain family-school relationships to support academic and social development.
  • Write, implement, and evaluate your own professional development plans.
  • Act as a coach/mentor to other teachers on the team in areas of personal expertise.
  • Engage in ongoing communication with parents about student progress.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education with completion of all required student teaching experiences.
  • At least two years of classroom experience with a satisfactory rating.
  • Three positive recommendations from professional individuals.
  • Strong background in classroom instruction and pedagogical skills.
  • Experience with Professional Learning Communities (PLC) model.
  • Highly organized, independent worker with excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Qualifications

Required certification types:

  • Childhood Education Grades 1-6 (3014)
  • Early Childhood Education Birth - Grade 2 (3013)
  • Art 6010 (acceptable but not required for this role)

Pay

  • Certified: $200 per day
  • Non-Certified: $180 per day

This is a per diem, non-exempt, full-time temporary position starting as soon as possible.
