Elementary Teacher (Long-term Substitute, Grade 1, 2026-27)
Our Mission: The Charter School for Applied Technologies prepares students to attain family-sustaining careers by integrating career exploration and a lifelong learning culture. CSAT opened in 2001 as a 700-student school serving grades K-6. Today, it is a campus of three buildings (Elementary, Middle, and High Schools) hosting approximately 2,300 students from 19 school districts across Western New York.
About the role
CSAT seeks a long-term substitute teacher for Grade 1 for the 2026-27 school year. The teacher is responsible for communicating knowledge in an interesting, stimulating, and effective manner using a variety of instructional methodologies and curriculum resources. You will work as a team member, sharing planning, professional development, curriculum design, and teaching responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Implement school and district policies and procedures
- Collaborate with the team on curriculum and student needs
- Create and maintain ongoing communication with parents
- Participate in curriculum development and implementation
- Integrate technology into the instructional program and demonstrate professional use
- Act as a coach/mentor to other teachers on the team in areas of personal expertise
- Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse student needs
- Establish and manage student-directed classrooms where students work independently and in groups
- Develop and use rubrics for instruction and assessment
- Use technology tools for instruction, planning, and communication
- Create and manage a responsive learning environment that enables students to feel safe, be creative, and develop to their full potential
- Write, implement, and evaluate your own professional development plans
- Develop family-school relationships that foster academic and social development
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education and completion of all required student teaching experiences
- At least two years of classroom experience with a satisfactory rating
- Three positive professional recommendations
- Strong background in classroom instruction and pedagogical skills
- Highly organized and independent worker with excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Professional Learning Communities (PLC) model
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Qualifications
Required certification: Childhood Education Grades 1-6 (3014) or Early Childhood Education Birth - Grade 2 (3013).
Pay
Per diem rate: $200 per day for certified teachers; $180 per day for non-certified teachers.
Schedule
Full-time, long-term substitute position for the 2026-27 school year. Start date as soon as possible.
Location: Elementary School, Charter School for Applied Technologies.
