Elementary Teacher - 1st Grade

At CHCCS, a teacher's goal is to provide each student with the help, counsel, and learning experience needed to make progress toward educational goals established, to create a flexible instructional program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, and to establish effective rapport with pupils.

Essential Duties

• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials
• Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student
• Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
• Maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom
• Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals
• Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects, and communicates these objectives to pupils
• Evaluates pupil performance and growth using a variety of formative and summative evaluation tools
• Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student's progress and interprets the school program
• Collaborates with colleagues to promote an optimal learning environment for pupils

Qualifications

• Holds, or is eligible to hold, a North Carolina Professional Educator's license in the assigned area
• Bachelor's Degree required
• Prior teaching experience preferred

Physical Requirements

Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
