Elementary Teacher - 1st Grade

BASIS Baton Rouge Mid City Campus is seeking a 1st Grade Elementary Teacher to join our team.

About the role

As a BASIS Ed Elementary Learning Expert Teacher (LET), you will use your expertise to address the differentiated needs of your students. Through collaboration with Subject Expert Teachers (SETs), who handle main instruction, you will focus on raising individual student outcomes without the burden of preparing multiple daily lessons.

Our K–3 (or K–4, depending on campus) classrooms are co-taught by two elementary teachers, fostering a joyful learning culture where intellectual pursuits lead to extraordinary student outcomes. LETs customize education to meet each student’s individual needs, celebrating the art of elementary education with the belief that every child can excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead one cohort of students through classroom transitions during the day
• Collaborate with the Subject Expert Teacher (SET) for each class period
• Provide individualized or small-group instruction using elementary education teaching methods to meet differentiated student needs
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
• Valid fingerprint clearance and/or satisfactory applicable state background check
• Demonstrated passion for student achievement and raising individual student outcomes

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as an elementary educator
• Strong communication skills
• Openness to new teaching methods
