Elementary School Teacher, Special Education 2026-2027 School Year
The Bakersfield City School District is seeking Elementary Special Education Teachers for the 2026-2027 School Year with an emphasis in Mild/Moderate, Moderate/Severe, and Emotionally Disturbed, as well as Autism.
About the Role
This position is responsible for providing instruction to students with special needs, developing individualized education plans, collaborating with parents and other professionals, and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
Responsibilities
- Provide differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of students
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to support student learning
- Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills
- Adhere to federal and state special education laws and regulations
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
- Credential authorizing service in Elementary Special Education
- Passage of relevant certification exams
- Experience working with students with mild/moderate, moderate/severe, emotionally disturbed, and autism

Pay
SALARY: Salary and work year to be according to current teacher salary schedule
Schedule
Hours and days of work will be determined based on the needs of the school district.
Conditions of Employment
- Proof of privately owned automobile insurance and a valid California Motor Vehicle operator's license
- Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice
- Completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtaining verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter
