Elementary School Teacher Assistant - OYO

Essential Duties

• Serves as a supportive instructional resource under the direction of a certified staff member.
• Supervises classrooms in emergency situations.
• Maintains order and monitors students during independent work activities.
• Provides tutorial assistance to students in one-to-one or small group settings.
• Supports students by providing practice and reinforcement activities following direct instruction.
• Assists in the preparation of instructional materials.
• Supports behavior management tasks under the direction of a certified staff member.
• Provides emotional support and encouragement to students.
• Assists in the supervision of students throughout the school day (e.g., supports within regular classroom, assists with bus loading/unloading, lunch, recess, restroom, movement throughout the building).
• Performs clerical duties as needed.

Requirements

• At least 36 college credit hours (with official transcripts)
• Completion of substitute teacher training (with copy of HS diploma, GED, or HISET and translation if applicable)
• DESE Substitute Certification required before employment

Starting Pay

Starting pay is $17.38/hr with 36 hours of college credit or $18.38/hr with a 4-year degree.

Position Summary

To improve the educational program by assisting the instructional and administrative staff. The Teaching Assistant will assist full-time teachers, reinforcing materials and lessons covered in the classroom to facilitate student learning. Under the direction of a certified teacher, performs a variety of classroom, general, and clerical duties related to assisting a student.
