Elementary Principal
About the Role
The school principal is responsible for day-to-day instructional leadership and administration for all educational and operational aspects of Lake Marion Elementary School. This full-time, 225-day position begins on August 19, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school.
- Demonstrates leadership qualities, including a strong instructional focus, commitment to continuous school improvement, research-based best practices, collaborative and relationship-centered leadership, and data-driven decision-making.
- Serves as instructional leader by guiding curriculum, instruction, assessment, and intervention best practices, leading Professional Learning Communities, managing the Teacher Development and Evaluation process, and providing effective feedback to staff.
- Interviews candidates and makes hiring recommendations for all positions; assigns staff and provides orientation.
- Supervises licensed and non-licensed staff, making recommendations for tenure, non-renewal, or dismissal.
- Prepares and manages the school budget, maintaining accurate records as required by District policy and state law.
- Prepares District, State, and Federal reports as required.
- Maintains active relationships with students, parents, and staff.
- Keeps the Superintendent and appropriate Cabinet Administrators informed of school programs and issues.
- Interprets and enforces District policies, practices, and procedures; stays abreast of School Board actions and proceedings.
Requirements
- Must possess or be eligible for a valid K-12 principal license in the State of Minnesota.
- Prefer experience as a principal with a demonstrated record of leadership, a strong focus on student achievement, commitment to school improvement initiatives, collaborative leadership style, and expanded opportunities for parent/community involvement.
Pay
Salary range: $159,209 to $171,942, in accordance with the Lakeville Association of School Administrators (LASA) contract.
