Full-time position with hours from 7:45 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

About the Role

Flagstaff Academy seeks an Elementary Paraprofessional for the 2026-27 school year. This position involves supervising lunch and recess duties, assisting the grade-level teaching team with lesson preparation, student pull-out groups, and other tasks. Close collaboration with the lead paraprofessional and grade-level teachers is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with literacy and math small groups.
  • Foster a positive and safe learning environment through effective behavior management techniques.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students during all program activities and transitions.
  • Assist in reinforcing learning materials and skills introduced by the teacher with individual students or small groups.
  • Monitor lunch and recess duties.
  • Assist with afternoon driveline.
  • Participate in appropriate staff development to ensure professional growth.

Requirements

  • Verifiable education or training in work with school-age children in areas such as recreation, education, scouting, or 4-H.
  • Completion of at least one of the following qualifications:
    • A four-year college degree with a major in recreation, education (with a specialty in art, elementary, or early childhood education), or a subject in the human service field.
    • Two years of college training and six months of satisfactory, verifiable full-time or equivalent part-time experience in the care and supervision of four or more children since attaining the age of 18.
    • Three years of satisfactory, verifiable full-time or equivalent part-time experience in the care and supervision of four or more children since attaining the age of 18.
  • Program lead must complete six semester hours, nine quarter hours in coursework from a regionally accredited college or university, or 40 clock hours of training applicable to school-age children within the first nine months of employment.
  • Patience and flexibility to adapt to varying needs and personalities of students.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to be on feet for 8 hours a day, actively supervising students.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to collaborate with fellow educators and program staff.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize, and stay organized in a dynamic environment.
  • Must pass a background check and meet state/local requirements for working with children.

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to use time productively.
  • Demonstrated tact, courtesy, and helpfulness in dealing with staff, students, parents, and visitors.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

  • CPR, First Aid, Standard Precautions, and Medication Administration certifications required within 90 days of hire.
  • Mandated Reporter certification within the first day of hire.

Located in Longmont, Flagstaff Academy is a tuition-free public charter school serving grades kindergarten through eighth. The school also offers a tuition-based full- and part-time preschool program for three- and four-year-olds. Pay

Hiring pay range: $18-$27/hour, based on qualifications, skills, and experience.
