Elementary Paraprofessional
Qualifications
- An associate's degree or two years of study at an institution of higher education
- The ability to meet the State of Michigan "Highly Qualified" Paraprofessional requirements
- Experience working with children
- Patientness
- Strong knowledge of general language arts and math
Responsibilities
- Present learning materials and instructional exercises under the direction of teachers
- Tutor and assist children, individually or in small groups, to help them master assignments and reinforce concepts presented by teachers
- Assist in administering pre- and post-testing of standardized tests
- Avoid and monitor students' safety and property
- Monitor students' performance and record relevant data to assess progress
- Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage
- Assist with students' medical and/or physical needs as directed

Job Goal
Perform instructional paraprofessional duties and/or deliver direct services to students or parents.
Performance Responsibilities
Directed by instructional personnel to present learning materials and instructional exercises.
Discuss assigned duties with classroom teachers to coordinate instructional efforts.
Present subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers.
Tutor and assist children, individually or in small groups (at the teacher's request), to help them master assignments and reinforce concepts presented by teachers.
Assist in administering pre- and post-testing of standardized tests.
Avoid and monitor students' safety and property.
Monitor students' performance and record relevant data to assess progress.
Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage.
Assist with students' medical and/or physical needs as directed.
