About the role
The Dean of Students is an administrator at an assigned elementary school responsible for duties including school safety, behavior, MTSS, and other tasks as directed by the principal.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate student behavior functions at the assigned school site.
- Oversee and assist with student supervision, expulsions, and manifestation determinations.
- Review, analyze, and implement student management plans in response to student discipline data.
- Aid faculty and staff in interpreting student discipline data and developing classroom management strategies.
- Lead the behavior side of MTSS, including Tier I through Tier III supports.
- Manage a team of Security Student Advocate, Administrative Assistant, Licensed Therapist, Case Manager, and SST Coordinator, providing guidance and direction from the building Principal.
- Hire, supervise, and plan professional learning for assigned personnel, evaluating their performance as outlined.
- Maintain current knowledge of educational methods, practices, and standards related to school operations and related laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Support special education programming and PAR Case Conferences as assigned by the principal.
- Perform related duties as assigned by the Principal to meet the particular needs of the building/unit.
Requirements
- Three years of teaching experience with some elementary experience preferred.
- Must possess a valid Indiana Building Level Administrator certification.
- Knowledge and experience in implementing best practices in academics and behavior.
- Strong planning, administrative, supervisory, analytical, computer, organizational, accountability, oral, and written communication skills.
- Able to legally operate a motor vehicle.
