Elementary Centerbased ASD Classroom Teacher (mild-moderate)

About the role

Cologne Academy (PreKindergarten-8th Grade Public School) is located in Carver County and currently enrolls approximately 750 students between its onsite and virtual academy. The school offers an enriched learning experience through the Core Knowledge curriculum and an individualized approach to learning.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the mission and vision of Cologne Academy that focuses on academics and character development.
• Work in a high-performance work environment with continuous professional growth in support of growth in all domains for all students.
• Join a large special education team that includes a wide range of special educators, an on-site coordinator, a school psychologist, a school social worker, a due process secretary, paraprofessionals, and all related service providers.
• Provide specialized instruction in reading, written expression, and mathematics, as well as continuous progress monitoring.
• Specialize in some or all of the following areas: social skills, executive functioning skills, functional skills, and IEP writing and conducting teacher components of special education evaluations.
• Use instructional technology and create schedules and manage paraprofessionals.
• Communicate effectively with general education teachers, special education team members, and provide information to parents.

Requirements

• Knowledge and experience in specialized instruction in reading, written expression, and mathematics.
• Experience with continuous progress monitoring.
• Experience with specialized instruction in social skills, executive functioning skills, functional skills, and IEP writing and conducting teacher components of special education evaluations.
• Experience using instructional technology.
• Excellent communication skills for collaboration with general education teachers, special education team members, and for providing information to parents.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Special Education or related field.
• Valid teaching license in Minnesota.
• Experience working with diverse student populations.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers and other special education professionals.

• Proficiency in using educational technology tools.
