About the role
The Elementary ASD Teacher is a full-time, on-site role located in Waconia, MN.
Responsibilities
- Provides specialized instruction and support to elementary students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in inclusive and small-group settings, aligning lessons with individualized education programs (IEPs) and district curriculum standards.
- Designs differentiated learning activities, implements evidence-based ASD strategies, monitors student progress, and maintains accurate documentation.
- Collaborates with general education teachers, support staff, families, and related service providers to promote academic, social, and behavioral growth.
- Participates in IEP meetings, contributes to positive behavior supports, and fosters a safe, respectful, and accessible classroom environment.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Teaching and Elementary Education, with demonstrated skill in engaging diverse learners.
- Experience in Curriculum Development and Education planning, including differentiated and individualized instruction.
- Effective Communication skills for collaborating with students, families, colleagues, and support staff.
- Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder, special education practices, and behavior support strategies.
- Valid teaching license in Elementary or Special Education (or eligibility for licensure) in the state of Minnesota.
- Ability to create inclusive, culturally responsive classrooms and uphold equity-focused practices.
- Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and commitment to ongoing professional learning.
