Electrophysiology Nurse, Associate

Responsibilities

• Tests, monitors, and maintains safe equipment handling for proper and safe operation.
• Properly uses Epic for patient care and procedural documentation.
• Administers intravenous and oral medications to patients as needed for Moderate Sedation or Anesthesia Support.
• Prepares patients and equipment for electrophysiology procedures by preparing the site of entry, draping patient, arranging sterilized instruments and catheters, and calibrating, and setting-up monitoring/mapping equipment, pressure transducers, and tubing.
• Obtains and records hemodynamic, electrical, and angiographic data by operating hemodynamic and electrical amplifiers and digital and line fluoroscopic equipment.
• Performs associate nurse circulating functions during the procedure.
• Develops and contributes to a plan of nursing for the patient's care.
• Aids in the collection of arterial and venous blood samples and respiratory gases.
• Maintains vigilance over patient's vital signs.
• Participates in life-saving measures such as defibrillation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
• Decrements supplies from inventory and restocks supplies when time allows.
• Removes and applies sheaths as needed for hemostasis.
• Assists in the surgical implantation of pacemakers, interval cardiac defibrillators, and cardiac ablation procedures.
• Participates in a rotational call schedule for procedures after scheduled hours, limited weekend hours and holiday coverage.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of previous nursing experience.
• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah, or obtain one within 90 days of hire under the interstate compact if switching residency to State of Utah.
• Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Current RQI Healthcare Provider ALS eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The ALS eCredential is to be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department.
