Electronics Technician Trainee, GS-7

Responsibilities
- Perform simple, preventive and corrective maintenance on various items of equipment of the Bureau's communications and intrusion systems.
- Test and replace defective components and perform preventive maintenance at predetermined intervals as recommended by manufacturers.
- Assist higher grade technicians during installation, maintenance and removal of equipment and associated systems.
- Review pertinent technical manuals, remain current with technology, and be available to attend government-sponsored training classes.
- Make appropriate notation in equipment maintenance log regarding maintenance performed.
- Take periodic inventory of radio parts and check results against a spare parts quota prepared by the senior technician in office.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must have (or be able to obtain) a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to obtain a Top Secret-SCI clearance.
- Some travel may be required.
Qualifications
- Education: Six (6) credit hours in basic electronics from an accredited college or university.
- Radio Experience: One or two years of specialized experience in RF, Infrastructure Maintenance, Subscriber Devices, and/or Tactical Communications with Motorola Radio.
- Data Network Experience: One or two years of specialized experience in network infrastructure, network maintenance, and/or telecommunications with Cisco switch and router programming.
- Physical Security Systems Experience: Two years of specialized experience in alarm installation, access control installation, security programming, and/or video security system installation.
Benefits
The position offers a salary range of $43,106.00 - $56,039.00 for GS-7 level. Selectees may be eligible for a recruitment incentive of up to 20% or, for eligible current federal employees, a relocation incentive of up to 15%. Employees must sign a written service agreement completing a specified period of employment with the FBI at the new duty station. Recruitment and relocation incentives cannot be combined.
Pay
The base rate of pay for federal employees on the General Schedule (GS) pay scale is listed above. A complete list of pay tables factoring in locality pay can be found at www.OPM.gov.

Working hours may vary based on the needs of the Division.

Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in communication, electronics, flexibility/adaptability, initiative, organizing and planning, problem solving/judgment, and method 1 - education in basic electronics.
