Electronics Technician II

About the Role

The Electronics Technician performs all duties listed for the Electronics Associate (H1) and Electronics Specialist (H2) roles, with additional responsibilities as outlined below.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-process and final electrical tests per approved ID test procedures, including motor systems tests and burn-in.
• Troubleshoot and repair electronic assemblies to the component level.
• Conduct failure analysis and recommend corrective actions.
• Record final test data accurately and review manufacturing documents for completion and traceability.
• Prepare required quality documentation.
• Coordinate with associates within the cell and supervisors, including handing off completed work to the next assembly cell.
• Facilitate quality in all operations as outlined in the ID Quality Manual.
• Assist in the mechanical assembly of electronics hardware as required.
• Maintain tools and work area in a clean and orderly condition while observing prescribed safety precautions.
• Handle and package ESD-sensitive components/assemblies only at static-safe workstations.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Electronics or related experience.
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including customer needs assessment and meeting quality standards.
• Familiarity with administrative and clerical procedures, such as word processing and managing files and records.
• Understanding of electronic theory from system to component level.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with basic arithmetic knowledge.
• Ability to interpret complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, and adjustable measuring instruments.
• Proficiency in posting, preparing, interpreting, and verifying reports, forms, and records.
• Ability to follow written test procedures and verify test limits.
• Proficiency in reading wiring diagrams, identifying components, and soldering.
• Judgment to plan, perform, and make decisions regarding the sequence of setups, operations, and processes within standard methods.
• Self-motivated with the ability to complete tasks without supervision.
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when working with small electronic components.
• Ability to detect and correct solder bridges and other discrepancies.
• Strong leadership ability and interpersonal skills.

Work Environment

Work-related hazards include exposure to high voltage. Working on the plant floor requires wearing common protective and safety equipment.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
• Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.
• Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
