Electronics Technician - Epoxy - Temporary position

About the role

We are seeking a Temporary Science Technician Assistant (TAE) to join our dynamic team at Epic Science. This role is part of our commitment to developing innovative technologies that will contribute to a future powered by clean, safe, and sustainable fusion energy.

Responsibilities

• Work with blueprints, templates, sample parts, and process sheets.
• Aid in the preparation of molds and forms.
• Route, drill, trim, and sand parts to blueprint dimensions and tolerances.
• Prepare surfaces and paint composite components.
• Apply spray coatings using a high-volume low-pressure spray gun.
• Mix and pour epoxy resins into molds for transformer coils and components, ensuring proper degassing and vacuum pressure.
• Inspect finished castings for defects, such as voids or cracks, ensuring compliance with design specifications.
• Assist in the development of shop aids for fabrication, trimming, and assembly.
• Maintain quality control records and ensure a clean and organized work area.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and operating procedures.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with composites, manufacturing, layup, lamination, and blueprints.
• Experience with vacuum bagging/mold casting, fabrication, prepreg, and carbon fiber.
• Proficiency in using hand tools like hand drills, scissors, and electric heat guns.
• Experience with measuring instruments such as scales, calipers.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Respirator certification may be required.
• Ability to work extended hours and lift assemblies weighing up to 50 lbs.

Pay

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements depending on the position offered (non-Sr., Sr., Lead or Manager). The compensation range for these roles are $35.00 - $42.00 an hour.
