This position is 100 percent travel throughout the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Service area. All travel expenses are paid.

About the Role

The FAA awarded the Technical Support Services Contract 5 (T5) to Parsons as the prime contractor. This $1.8 billion+ contract has a 4-year base period with two 3-year options. The statement of work includes a variety of activities that support the FAA’s Capital Investment Plan (CIP) modernization efforts: site selection and engineering, construction, environmental and fire/life safety, equipment installation and testing, CAD, and other technical services as required. Work is performed across the nation in each of the FAA’s nine regions as well as the Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and the Technical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and in several U.S. territories. An average staff of 400-500 with a peak staff over 650 supports this contract, in addition to subcontractors who perform construction work.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with site preparation work for voice switches at Enroute Centers and Terminal TRACONs.
  • Assists with Fiber Optics Terminal System (FOTS) installation at various sites throughout the USA.
  • Assists with electronics installations, integration, and testing for rehoming and monitoring the AFSS radios to the selected Enroute and Terminal Air Traffic.
  • Installs other Radio Control Equipment (RCE) such as VHF and UHF radio communication systems to transmit and receive radio messages, as well as electrical power panels; conduit; cableways; control cables; duct banks; AC power panels; racks for various FAA systems.
  • Removes and repairs or replaces components, wires, wire bundles, terminal blocks, and/or connectors.
  • Solders, splices, or otherwise installs/repairs various wire types including coaxial, shielded, solid, and stranded wires.
  • Tests and troubleshoots electrical components by applying the theory of operation of transistors, solid state components, integrated circuits, motors, servos, power transmissions, and other electrical devices utilizing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, color codes, publications, and other technical data.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, aligns, and calibrates audio equipment and voice communication systems to the component level, utilizing schematics, theory of operation, general and system-specific test equipment.
  • Installs sensors, wires, cabling, computers, radios, and satellites in an unpredictable, fast-paced environment in all weather conditions.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Requirements

  • 0+ years’ experience with testing, repairing, troubleshooting, and installation of Fiber Optics, other Radio Control Systems (RCE), and other complex electronics equipment.
  • May require repetitive movement such as lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, and standing.
  • Must be able to climb towers, which may be as high as 50 ft.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Internet, and email.
  • Must be able to meet customer security requirements. A background check by federal authorities will be performed.
  • Must be able to travel up to 100% within the USA.

Desired Skills

  • Advanced electronics training from institutions such as junior college, military service, or trade school.
  • Experience maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, modifying, and installing various types of electronic equipment and related devices such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (e.g., radar, radio, television, telecommunication, sonar, and navigational aids); personal and mainframe computers and terminals; industrial, medical, measuring, and controlling equipment; and industrial robotic devices.
  • Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions and skill in restoring equipment operation, evaluating performance and reliability of prototype or production models, and recommending changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.

Pay

Salary Range: $15.68 - $71.30 per hour.
