Core Responsibilities
- Assemble, modify, and support prototype mechanical and electrical systems for thermal and electrical applications
- Perform light mechanical fabrication including drilling, cutting, fastening, and component modifications
- Install and wire electrical harnesses, components, and assemblies
- Configure and install sensors including flow meters, temperature sensors, voltage/current meters, valves, and touchscreen interfaces
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and mechanical drawings
- Collaborate with engineering teams to validate designs and provide build feedback throughout development
- Document assembly procedures, technical issues, test results, and recommended design improvements
- Support prototype testing, troubleshooting, validation, and system refinement
- Maintain an organized prototype lab, inventory, and work area
- Support multiple engineering projects with changing priorities and aggressive development timelines
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist engineering teams with prototype improvements and design iterations
- Support equipment setup for testing and validation activities
- Maintain accurate build documentation and technical records
- Cookordination with engineering and external fabrication partners as needed
- Support occasional field builds or partner facility activities when required
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on experience as a technician in mechanical, electrical, prototype, or R&D environments
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in fabrication and prototype assembly
- Experience wiring electrical systems and working with AC/DC power systems (up to 480VAC)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings
- Experience using multimeters, hand tools, power tools, drill presses, and other shop equipment
- Familiarity with sensor installation, configuration, and calibration
- Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital documentation tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent technical or vocational training
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification for cable and wire harness assembly
- Experience working with HVAC systems, cooling equipment, or data center infrastructure
- Experience working in engineering prototype or product development environments
