About the role

The Electronics Technician is responsible for building prototypes incorporating electronic controls and PCB assemblies, setting up and conducting tests on electronic assemblies or components, failure analysis, documentation of test results, and conducting basic repairs, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance of electrical lab test equipment. This role collaborates with an Electronics Engineer for the development of electronic components for new products and a Test Engineer for day-to-day testing and equipment repair activities in the test lab.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and apply safe working practices in the lab, including PPE and ESD equipment
  • Setup test equipment, data acquisition equipment and power supplies
  • Test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical/electronic circuits and (test) equipment
  • Fabricate and assemble PCB assemblies, wire harnesses, electrical circuits and prototypes
  • Read and interpret technical/electrical drawings, layouts, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Gather test data, formulate conclusions, and write test reports
  • Analyze failure modes and recommend improvements
  • Specify and purchase electrical components and equipment
  • Support 5S+1 and other waste elimination activities

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field with work experience or internship in an electrical/electronic equipment testing, design, diagnostics, troubleshooting, or repair capacity
  • 3+ years of relevant electrical/electronic work experience in a test laboratory, or equipment diagnostics, troubleshooting, or repairs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrable practical skills in problem solving, root cause analysis, troubleshooting and repair
  • E/E test equipment experience: Oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators, power supplies, data acquisition equipment
  • E/E technology experience: Bluetooth, Li-Ion battery testing, Brushless DC
  • Programming experience: LabVIEW or C/C++, BLDC firmware
  • Experience with PCB layout software and SMT equipment (Print, Pick/Place, Reflow oven)
  • Hand-soldering through-hole and SMT components
  • Microsoft Office proficiency

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
