About the role

The Maintenance Electrician and Instrumentation Technician provides both maintenance and reliability services within the plant, executing with excellence and assisting critical electrical/instrumentation asset health improvement efforts. This role partners with plant maintenance, operational, and support teams to ensure results. Key responsibilities include executing electrical/instrumentation PM, PDM, RCM, Precision CM, and Operator Care Programs, as well as assisting with equipment installation, troubleshooting, adjustments, startups, and process improvement projects. The candidate must be a self-starter willing to accept reliability and process responsibility, comply with safety work rules, and reinforce safety as a core value. This position ensures compliance with all food safety and quality policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Participate with electrical/instrumentation maintenance team members to improve personal safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
• Contribute to the advancement of the MFI & ARM culture.
• Learn and champion Precision Maintenance® techniques, ensuring procedural compliance and job tolerances are met.
• Actively participate in critical electrical/instrumentation equipment maintenance training for maintenance personnel.
• Follow reliability procedures for critical electrical/instrumentation spares and parts.
• Adhere to quality commissioning procedures for critical rebuilt or new electrical/instrumentation equipment.
• Participate in electrical/instrumentation troubleshooting tasks and maintenance assignments.
• Utilize MFI-approved CMMS to manage, document, and support electrical/instrumentation reliability reporting and decision-making.
• Keep accurate and up-to-date records as required.
• Provide input for root cause analysis (RCA) and Reliability Centered Maintenance to foster continuous asset reliability improvement.
• Promote and demonstrate Michael Foods culture, values, and principles while acting as a role model for safe work behaviors.
• Assume personal responsibility for ensuring a safe and healthy workplace for everyone.
• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety into all jobs and tasks.
• Maintain sanitary conditions, follow GMPs, and ensure product quality is maintained. Report any conditions that may adversely affect food safety and quality.
• Ensure required regulatory compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent).
• Associate’s degree, two-year technical certificate, and/or a relevant combination of experience demonstrating electrical/instrumentation technical aptitude.
• 2 years of experience as a maintenance electrician with an emphasis on industry or manufacturing.
• Electrical license or electrical/instrumentation certification preferred.
• E&I troubleshooting experience preferred.
• Understanding of mechanical and/or electrical schematics, blueprints, and equipment-specific electronics diagrams preferred.
• Prior experience in SAP preferred.
• Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent administrative and follow-up skills.

Skills

• Experience with VFD’s, HMI’s, and PLC troubleshooting (programming not required).
• Self-starter with a focus on electrical/instrumentation reliability and process responsibility.
• Ability to work a 2-2-3 schedule (Days - 6am-6pm), including weekends and holidays as necessary.

• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Exposure to a noisy environment with temperature variations from hot to cold.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $32.64 to $37.74 per hour.
