Skyloom, an IonQ company, is a telecommunications company developing and operating space communication infrastructure to provide planetary-scale data transport services. Skyloom delivers fiberless, ultra-high-capacity connections across a multi-orbit network, enabling secure, low-latency global communications. This role is based onsite in Broomfield, Colorado, with up to 5% travel.

About the role

This role is responsible for the assembly, inspection, certification, rework, and acceptance of electronic flight hardware. The technician serves as a key quality gate for all incoming PCBAs and supports production through IPC-compliant workmanship, staking, conformal coating, harness fabrication, and repair activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform incoming visual inspection of all PCBAs using IPC-A-610 acceptance criteria.
  • Assemble, inspect, and verify electronic flight hardware and cable/harness assemblies.
  • Perform staking, conformal coating, and final workmanship verification.
  • Execute SMT and through-hole rework and repair in accordance with IPC-7711/7721.
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective actions for workmanship issues.
  • Read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, ECNs, and manufacturing travelers.
  • Maintain complete product traceability and manufacturing records.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Test.
  • Champion ESD, FOD, and contamination-control practices.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in aerospace, defense, medical, or other high-reliability electronics manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated expertise in SMT and through-hole assembly and rework.
  • Experience inspecting Class 3 electronic assemblies.
  • Experience with microscopes, soldering/rework stations, multimeters, and precision tools.
  • Strong understanding of AS9100 quality principles and configuration control.

  • IPC-A-610 Certified Standards Expert (CSE)
  • J-STD-001 Certified IPC Specialist (CIS)
  • J-STD-001 Space Addendum Certified IPC Specialist (CIS)
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certified IPC Specialist (CIS)

Pay

The approximate base salary range for this position is $68,456 - $90,533. Total compensation includes base salary, bonus, equity, and benefits. Compensation varies based on individual factors such as education, qualifications, experience, office location, and market data.
