About the role

We manufacture innovative robotic pipeline inspection and rehabilitation equipment for the water, sewer, oil/gas, and mining industries worldwide. As a troubleshooting-level Electrical Assembly Technician, you will perform complex wiring, assembly, and testing of components and assemblies for custom outfitted vehicles. You will serve as a technical expert in all electrical aspects of vehicle upfit activities, following 5S/LEAN Manufacturing requirements and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Assemble complex electro-mechanical devices and products using fixtures, hand tools, and soldering irons.
• Assemble circuit boards.
• Utilize engineering drawings, electrical schematics, BOMs, and other documents as required.
• Troubleshoot finished products, assemblies, and systems.
• Assist assemblers with diagnosing and troubleshooting faulty equipment.
• Accurately account for materials per processes and procedures.
• Log time into the computer.
• Inspect parts for surface defects.

Requirements

• Be able to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Good knowledge of basic hand tools and ability to use them.
• Ability to use small power tools (drills, Dremel, drill press, etc.).
• Ability to read and understand Digital Volt Meters.
• Ability to use and understand test equipment.
• Ability to solder through-hole and surface-mount circuit boards.
• Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to troubleshoot electronic devices.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of electronic technology education or 5 years of field experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years of electronic technology degree or 5 years of relevant work experience.
• 1-3 years’ experience in electronic assembly and troubleshooting.
• Ability to troubleshoot electronic circuits to component level.

Skills

Experience with ETT training or certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to stand and use hands to handle or touch objects, tools, or controls.
• Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Occasionally required to walk, sit, stand, reach above shoulders, climb or balance, talk or hear, and use foot/feet to operate machinery.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally move up to 100 pounds.
• Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
