Electronic Systems Security Technician (MD)

About the role
Versar Global Solutions seeks highly skilled, full-time Electronic Security System (ESS) Technicians to perform complex preventative and corrective maintenance tasks for federal government missions. This role involves technical support and installation of electronic security systems to protect sensitive activities, information, equipment, visitors, and personnel in controlled federal facilities.
Responsibilities
- Perform work on Access Controls, including card readers, electronic or wireless locks, and card, biometric, and fingerprint devices
- Perform work on Intrusion Systems and Prevention Systems, including perimeter controls
- Perform work on Video Management Systems, including Bosch, Milestone, and Axis
- Terminate and dismantle devices; reconstruct equipment as required
- Use ladders to safely access ceiling crawl spaces and attics to pull wires, route connections, etc.
- Clean up installation debris and maintain an orderly workspace
- Analyze blueprints and building plans to confirm proper placement of wiring, conduit, and connections on a room-by-room and floor-by-floor basis
- Perform system testing and signal verification
- Assist teammates with troubleshooting needs virtually or by phone
- Assess tools, inventory, and material needs for replacement and order as needed
- Meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction
- Maintain a high level of professionalism in appearance and communication with the public and federal/local community members
- Maintain, enter, and process expenses in the Company system by established deadlines
- Drive company vehicles
- Perform other duties as required
Requirements
- 18+ years of age
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years of directly relevant experience in security systems installation
- Experience with access control systems and intrusion detection systems
- Working knowledge of ESS platforms: Software House C*CURE 9000, Bosch Video Management System, and Bosch Intrusion System
- Ability to obtain Software House C*CURE 9000 Certification within 90 days of hire (company-provided coursework and testing)
- Ability to read blueprints and building plans
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry up to 25 lbs. regularly
- Ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods
- Ability to effectively communicate in English with managers and coworkers
- Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License
- Active Top-Secret Clearance
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. or will be authorized by the start date
- Successful results of pre-employment screenings, including federal background check, MVR (Motor Vehicle Record), and drug screen
- Comply with Company Drug and Alcohol Policy
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in CCURE 9000, Hirsch/Identiv, Lenel, Bosch Video Management System, Honeywell Vindicator, or other ESS
- Experience with Video Management Systems (BVMS, Milestone, AXIS)
- Ability to program devices
- Experience working on federal, military, or government contracts
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
Pay
Expected salary: $36/hr - $50/hr
Schedule
This position is based in Germantown, MD and requires a daily commute to the site.
