Electronic Security Service Technician

The Electronic Security Service Technician installs, services, troubleshoots, and maintains electronic security systems including video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, alarms, and related low‑voltage equipment. This role ensures systems operate reliably, meet customer requirements, and comply with industry standards Install, configure, and test CCTV/IP camera systems, NVRs/VMS platforms, and networked security devicesInstall and service access control systems (card readers, door hardware, controllers, biometrics)Diagnose and repair intrusion alarm systems, sensors, panels, and communication modulesPerform preventive maintenance, system inspections, and firmware/software updatesRun, terminate, and label low‑voltage cabling (Cat5/6, coax, fiber)Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical schematicsProvide on‑site and remote technical support to customers and internal teamsDocument service activities, parts used, and system configurationsEnsure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and local regulationsCollaborate with project managers, engineers, and vendors to resolve complex issuesExperience with electronic security systems (video, access, intrusion)Strong understanding of IP networking, switches, PoE, and basic routingAbility to use diagnostic tools (multimeter, cable tester, laptop‑based utilities)Knowledge of low‑voltage wiring standards and installation best practicesStrong problem‑solving and customer‑service skillsAbility to work independently in the fieldValid driver’s license; ability to lift equipment and work on laddersMust be able to meet and maintain various certifications, licenses and/or registrations, in accordance with applicable state laws and as required by the electronic security regulations in the state (s) worked.Must be willing to participate in and pass the company’s pre-employment screening process including a background investigation and drug screening.If applicable, must continue to maintain a safe driving record and valid driver’s license to fulfill the travel requirements of this position.
