About the role
Establishes standards and policies for installation, modification, testing, operating procedures, inspection, and maintenance of equipment according to engineering principles and safety regulations. Provides technical support to other departments regarding process and/or equipment changes.
Responsibilities
- Program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLCs (programmable logic controllers) and other forms of industrial automation
- Install wiring circuits, switches, controls, and other electronic devices in accordance with specifications
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and make necessary repairs in a timely fashion to reduce downtime
- Identify areas where operations can be improved and made more efficient
- Carry out solutions to repair or upgrade equipment for improved operations
- Initiate purchase orders for parts and machines
- Perform lock out/tag out procedures, utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and adhere to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and guidelines
- Assist Plant Manager in off-hours maintenance calls as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, drawings, and schematics
- Strong knowledge of electromechanical codes, standards, and safety practices
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to the highest quality workmanship
- Physical stamina to work in various positions for extended periods
- Advanced knowledge of pneumatic, wiring, and hydraulic systems
Qualifications
- Associate's degree or technical certification required
- Five years professional electromechanical experience in the manufacturing industry
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Physical requirements
- Some physical demand. Often lifts light to heavy-weight material
- Frequent lifting/moving average weight (up to 50 lbs/11-27 kgs) material
- Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling, and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours)
- Ability to operate motorized vehicles over a full work shift (8-12 hours)
- Ability to stand and/or walk constantly over a full work shift on concrete (8-12 hours)
- May be exposed to noise levels for which hearing protection must be worn over a full work shift (8-12 hours)
