Electromechanical Assembler 1

About the Role

This position plays a key role within a team that assembles customer products in a manufacturing environment. Meeting delivery schedules and customer requirements is critical.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies.
• Read and understand customer drawings, parts lists, wire lists, processes, specifications, and assembly routers for step-by-step manufacturing instructions for wire harness and cable assemblies.
• Produce wire harness and cable assemblies using hand and/or power tools, including specialized crimpers, soldering tools, screwdrivers, torque wrenches, wire strippers, cutters, and precision measuring instruments.
• Use measuring devices and apply daily cable and harness techniques (wire cutting, cable prep and layup, connectorization, crimping, soldering, jacketing, braiding, molding, use of lacing tape and spot ties for open wire bundles, testing, etc.).
• Perform continuity checks on work in process and completed assemblies.
• Conduct in-process inspections on product in accordance with quality specifications.
• Read and write in English to fill in work order information and sign off on router operations.
• Perform rework on required assemblies by following authorized work instructions via rework router.
• Test and troubleshoot subassemblies at 1st, 2nd, and final tests.
• Use Microsoft Access to check-out and check-in tools (crimp tools, test fixtures, mold fixtures, and harness boards).
• Work collaboratively with the engineering team to correct and improve assembly process documents.

Requirements

• High School Diploma.
• J-STD Certification (required).
• IPC-620 Certification (required).
• 3 to 5 years of experience in a wire harness and cable assembly manufacturing environment.
• Electro-mechanical assembly experience.
• Strong crimping, connectorization, and soldering skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with critical attention to detail.

Skills & Working Conditions

• This position requires access to information or hardware subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee).
• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking/understanding English.
• Must pass visual acuity requirements (color, depth perception, and field of vision).
• Must be able to work under a microscope for inspection purposes.
• Must pass manual dexterity requirements (handling small parts effectively, demonstrating fine motor skills and dexterity to manipulate tweezers, small pliers, and parts with speed and precision).
• Must be able to use and read measuring devices (ruler, tape measure, caliper, etc.).
• Must have a steady hand for applying epoxy to cable assemblies to meet customer specifications.
• Perform complex, sometimes repetitive, electro-mechanical assembly operations of wire harnessing parts, components, and subassemblies.
• Must possess sufficient hand and upper body strength and gross motor skills to route cable bundles of various sizes and weights (cable assemblies regularly weigh more than 20 lbs., and some exceed several hundred lbs. and need to be moved on large wooden spools).
• Must possess sufficient hand and upper body strength to carry harness boards to and from their storage area.
