Pay

The hourly wage for this role is $43.47.

Schedule

• Monday through Friday
• 2nd shift (2:00 pm – 10:30 pm)
• 3rd shift (10:00 pm – 6:30 am)
• Overtime as needed

About the Role

In addition to the following, employees are responsible for understanding the relevance and importance of individual activities in contributing to food safety and reporting situations that may impact food. This role supports all manufacturing processing and warehousing areas by repairing, troubleshooting, and performing preventative maintenance on all warehousing and processing-related equipment and systems. Reports to a maintenance supervisor and interacts with all hourly and salaried maintenance and production personnel.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair all types of electrical equipment including starters, switches, controls, meters, motor control centers, motors, and transformers that do not require rigging
• Install, maintain, and repair all types of pneumatic controls and equipment, except equipment that requires rigging and tools common to other trades
• Read and understand all types of electrical blueprints including ladder diagrams and programming logic diagrams
• Make programming changes, load and record programs using PLC terminals and recorders
• Apply industrial electronic and electrical theory and theory of industrial electronic components and controls
• Make shop calculations to determine proper dimensions, fuse requirements, ampere flow, wire size, and/or motor horsepower
• Fabricate, install, and maintain conduit and wiring systems
• Operate and use knowledgeably all power tools, hand tools, and electrical test equipment normally used to install, maintain, and troubleshoot plant electrical equipment
• Apply electrical practice on machinery peculiar to all plant processes and operations and differentiate between electrical and mechanical trouble
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance inspections and repairs, including craft-related cleaning and lubrication
• Requisition material from stores for jobs assigned and ensure proper charges on withdrawal slips
• Select and requisition appropriate shop equipment, machinery, and tools to accomplish assignments
• Prepare reports and maintain records as required
• Recognize and report to supervision any deficiencies, defective equipment, or unusual conditions
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area to ensure the highest degree of cleanliness and sanitation standards
• Observe all safety rules, precautions, and practices to ensure safety of self and others
• Train additional personnel in any aspect of this job as required
• Use computer-based applications such as SAP, RD Web, and others that apply
• Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

• Able to read and perform basic mathematical functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
• Basic computer skills such as keyboarding
• Excellent customer service skills, including problem-solving, timeliness, and follow-up
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
• Thorough knowledge of maintenance principles and practices
• Interpersonal and technical skills necessary to repair mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation problems in a positive and professional manner
• Ability to react to machinery breakdowns and equipment problems proficiently and positively
• Assist in improving overall efficiencies through effective troubleshooting and repair
• Effectively communicate with project engineers to ensure packaging projects meet technical objectives
• Positive attitude and self-motivated
• Willing to work in all facets of the mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation arena to upgrade overall skill base

Physical & Mental Requirements

• Lift 50 pounds
• Constant bending and twisting; able to reach above shoulders
• Able to climb ladders, stoop, kneel, and crouch occasionally
• Good verbal communication and basic mathematical skills
• Self-motivated with a strong drive for results
• Able to become certified to operate a lift truck
• Must possess appropriate tools and toolbox
• Able to work in hot/humid conditions as well as areas that may contain dust, starch particles, and egg
• Able to pass a FIT test

Work Environment

• Indoors/outdoors, production floor
• Exposure to high noise levels and occasional wet flooring
• Temperature fluctuations
• PIV traffic and moving equipment parts
