About The Role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electromechanical Technician to join our custom automation and equipment team. In this role, you will play a critical part in building, wiring, assembling, and commissioning custom automated machinery and robotic systems. If you thrive in a hands-on environment, take pride in high-quality craftsmanship, and love solving complex mechanical and electrical problems, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Equipment Assembly & Mechanical Build
    • Assemble complex mechanical components, frames, fixtures, subassemblies, and robotic systems strictly following engineering drawings and build documentation.
    • Perform precision alignments on mechanical parts including actuators, linear slides, sensors, and custom tooling.
    • Lay out and install pneumatic systems, including tubing, valve manifolds, and fittings.
  • Electrical & Controls Integration
    • Wire control panels, sensors, motors, and power distribution systems according to electrical schematics.
    • Route and dress cables and wiring harnesses for neat, reliable, and serviceable installations.
    • Assist controls engineers with I/O checkouts, initial power-up, machine debugging, and troubleshooting.
  • Machine Testing, Validation & Debug
    • Support mechanical dry runs, functional testing, and full system verification before customer delivery.
    • Identify operational issues during startup and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, or logic bugs.
    • Perform basic robot path or PLC parameter adjustments under guidance from controls engineers.
  • Continuous Improvement & Documentation
    • Maintain precise build notes, redlines, and change feedback to help engineering update drawings for future builds.
    • Strictly follow standard work procedures, quality standards, and industrial safety guidelines.
    • Proactively suggest improvements in machine design, assembly methods, and hardware selection.

Requirements

  • Experience: At least 1 year of hands-on experience in automated machinery, robotics, or custom equipment builds.
  • Education: Technical diploma, Associate degree, or equivalent practical experience in Automation, Mechatronics, or Machine Building.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of mechanical assembly, pneumatics, and low-voltage electrical wiring.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and pneumatic fluid diagrams.
  • Proficient with hand tools, precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers), and general shop equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to frequently bend, kneel, stoop, and work in prone or low positions for extended periods during build and debug phases.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, and industrial robotic systems (e.g., FANUC, ABB, Mitsubishi).
  • Strong understanding of industrial safety standards (Lockout/Tagout, machine guarding, and safety circuit verification).
  • Field installation, commissioning, or field service experience.

Key Competencies

  • Mechanical Aptitude: Outstanding problem-solving skills with a logical approach to troubleshooting.
  • Attention to Detail: Pride in neat wiring, clean pneumatic routing, and precise mechanical fits.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively both independently and alongside cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Communication: Clear verbal communication and reliable documentation habits.
