Essential Job Functions

  • Conduct laser alignment and full spectrometer system validation using laser alignment jigs, PMT detectors, and customized software tools (Synerjy, Excel macros, and other custom GUIs)
  • Perform maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of laser systems
  • Execute laser alignment and beam profiling to ensure optimal system performance
  • Assemble and test mechanical and electronic components in accordance with work instructions (WI), CAD drawings, technical documentation, and manufacturing procedures
  • Perform wire harness assembly and functional testing using hand tools and crimping tools
  • Utilize precision tools, including wrenches, Allen keys, alignment jigs, periscopes, and related equipment
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and resolve laser performance and technical issues
  • Ensure full compliance with laser safety protocols and procedures
  • Generate detailed documentation and reports on optical test results, laser system performance, and identified issues
  • Provide technical support during product development, validation, and testing phases

Required Skills & Experience

  • Solid understanding of electrical circuits and mechanical systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose basic mechanical and optical issues and implement corrective actions
  • Experience with laser systems, optical alignment, and beam profiling
  • Knowledge of laser safety standards and procedures
  • Familiarity with optical testing equipment, microscopes, lasers, and measurement tools
  • Strong computer skills, including use of standard software tools and digital work instructions
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with engineers, operators, and technicians
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a manufacturing environment

Qualifications

  • Associate degree and/or equivalent experience in Optics, Physics, Electronics, or a related field
  • Proven experience as an Optical Test Technician or in a similar hands-on manufacturing role
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and reporting skills
  • Familiarity with optical testing equipment, microscopes, lasers, and measurement tools
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
