About the Role
The Mechatronics Technician supports production reliability by installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting on production equipment, including motors, PLC-controlled systems, conveyors, sensors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability.
- Install, align, and calibrate electro-mechanical components, machinery, and control systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Diagnose equipment failures using multimeters, diagnostic software, oscilloscopes, and other testing instruments.
- Repair or replace motors, drives, switches, relays, control panels, gearboxes, pumps, and related components.
- Assist with equipment upgrades, modifications, and process improvements.
- Document maintenance activities, repair logs, and parts usage in the maintenance system (CMMS).
- Ensure all work follows safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and company policies.
- Collaborate with production teams to reduce recurring issues and support continuous improvement efforts.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, mechanical components, PLCs, sensors, and automation.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical diagrams.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.
- Knowledge of AC/DC circuits, control wiring, motor controls, VFDs, and mechanical assembly.
- Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, robotics, or automated manufacturing equipment is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Basic PC skills for documentation and CMMS entry.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Mechatronics, Electrical/Industrial Maintenance or a related field preferred.
- 2–5 years of experience in industrial maintenance or electro-mechanical work (or equivalent technical experience).
- Certifications/Degree such as Mechatronics or Industrial Electrician are a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, work from heights, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with noise, heat, or moving machinery.
- Ability to work overtime when requested.
