About the role

This role is part of Alcon's Engineering function, a team focused on improving quality, processes, products, packaging, and materials across our business to help deliver brilliant outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative and corrective maintenance for all production equipment including, technical problems in mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and control systems
  • Assisting others with technical problems within the team, including production personnel
  • Assisting in the parts repair shop to rebuild and restore used parts to an “as-built” condition, adding to the annual cost avoidance total
  • Assisting with improvements to the maintenance systems (Preventative, Corrective, Predictive, and Spare Parts)
  • Assisting with technical projects for equipment retrofits and upgrades, and with revising or writing SOPs and shop repair instructions
  • Optimizing manufacturing equipment and processes to provide balanced gains in product quality, output, product yield, and cost reduction

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
  • One Year of Relevant Experience
  • Work hours: 36 - 48 hours per week: 6:30 AM EST – 6:30 PM EST (12-hour rotating day shift: 2 days on, 2 days off, and every other weekend)

Qualifications

  • Industrial Maintenance Experience
  • Experience in troubleshooting & repairing production equipment
  • A related technical school certification or equivalent training or experience (e.g., manufacturing technology, electrical engineering, etc.)

Skills

  • Fluency in English
  • Technical troubleshooting and repair skills
  • Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and control systems
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
