Electro Mechanic

About the role

As a key member of our maintenance team, you will receive instructions covering scheduled and emergency repair, installation, and inspection tasks. You will play a crucial role in maintaining our plant equipment and ensuring minimal interruption to production.

Responsibilities

• Inspect plant equipment for defects such as misalignment, wear, and insufficient lubrication.
• Determine the best repair methods to minimize production interruptions.
• Plan working procedures to ensure the most logical approach to each job.
• Advise on immediate shutdowns or continued operation of equipment based on potential damage.
• Dismantle, clean, repair, replace, install, maintain, assemble, lubricate, and adjust equipment.
• Operate simple machine tools, erect scaffolds, and perform rigging as necessary.
• Interpret drawings and sketches to plan work procedures, tool and material requirements.
• Operate mechanical lifting devices and lay out work.
• Prepare surfaces for welding, set up and assemble fixtures, and perform brazing and welding.
• Clean, grind, and flame anneal parts and welded joints; use burning equipment to dismantle assemblies.
• Set up and operate pipe bending, threading, and cut-off equipment; fabricate and install piping for gases and liquids.
• Set up and operate sheet metal fabricating equipment; fabricate and install ductwork for heating and ventilating.
• Make calculations for estimating material requirements.
• Set up and operate woodworking tools; perform rough or finished carpentry work.
• Install prefabricated wood and metal parts, and perform glazing as required.
• Dismantle various types of roofing and siding.
• Operate and maintain mechanical equipment such as air compressors, emergency generators, ventilating equipment, pumps, and HVAC units.
• Prepare surfaces for painting and apply paints and coatings as required.
• Utilize a company vehicle for maintenance functions.
• Analyze wiring diagrams and specifications for repair, installation, and inspection tasks.
• Locate and install circuits and equipment; determine material or replacement needs.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical problems with minimal interference to operations.
• Plan and perform work requiring knowledge of electrical principles, wiring specifications, codes, and equipment operation.
• Locate sources of trouble in electrical equipment by tracing and testing circuits.
• Dismantle, inspect, repair, adjust, or replace faulty parts and wiring on motors, generators, power distribution panels, circuit breakers, rectifiers, and electronic devices.
• Reassemble, test, and adjust equipment for safe and proper operation.
• Perform work on "hot" lines as required.
• Replace coils, resistors, rheostats, relays, and adjust contactors and bus rigging.
• Reconnect terminal leads, panel boards, and distribution feeders.
• Install conduit, fittings, switches, controls, and fixtures; wire and connect electrical equipment.
• Make required splices and connector joints; adjust new equipment for proper operation.
• Apply knowledge of programmable controllers and PLC logic relays.
• Handle hazardous wastes with proper training and qualifications.
• Exercise all safety precautions and work in exposure areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
