Electrics Rework Technician, X-Plant

About the role

FAL X-Plant Technicians are tasked with preparing and executing outstanding work, ranging from minor rework to complex repairs and replacements, within their skill set. This work spans the FAL and Flightline phases.

Responsibilities

• Perform non-standard work including electrical system rework, wire changes, harness changes, electrical bonding, crimping, pinning, splicing, systems exchanges, component/equipment changes, painting, sealing, and troubleshooting.
• Carry out self-inspections in line with qualification profile and work order requirements.
• Execute delegated inspections in line with qualification profile and inspection planning.
• Work autonomously and self-directly to achieve milestones for FAL and Flight Line operations.
• Operate in compliance with production orders, design documents, concessions, and inspection procedures.
• Collaborate with engineering support to define rework or repair solutions and carefully review work orders, drawings, instructions, and procedures.
• Occasionally assist FAL Operations with standard activities performed out of station.
• Coordinate with various FAL functions to safely and securely access aircraft for non-standard work.
• Isolate limited systems to safely perform non-standard work.
• Flexibly perform work in non-standard areas such as at height, confined spaces, and wet-tank entries while adhering to safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
• Document tasks in accordance with Airbus procedures and specifications.
• Use a variety of standard and specialized hand tools, power equipment, measuring devices, and test equipment.
• Prepare for complex rework/repairs as a key part of the Working Party MFT.
• Identify risks and help mitigate through Working Party planning and review routines.
• Support and guide station setup needs to ensure safe working conditions.
• Contribute to planning adaptation within the MFT.
• Lead continuous improvement and problem-solving actions (PPS).
• Train and actively participate in the development of the X-Plant and FAL teams.
• Contribute to the growth of the X-Plant Multi-Functional Team by training other team members and being trained across multiple competencies.
• Maintain Personal Development Record for work performed.
• Participate in process improvement, root cause analysis, 5S, and all applicable tools.
• Improve work load, quality, safety, and increase efficiency.
• Promote and have an active role and detailed knowledge of specific Airbus procedures.
• Encourage safety by using applicable PPE and following and exceeding safety requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness of X-Plant Shop including free stock bins, consumable locations, and work areas.
• Participate in daily SQCDP Talks to discuss day-to-day activity and priorities.
• Timely and concurrently sign-off work within specified work orders, non-conformities, and SAP systems.
• Identify and raise non-conformities in SAP systems.
• Report details of tasks and input/output of work directly to Leads and Management by means of Production Pace Control System.

Requirements

Required Education: High School Diploma/GED, completed vocational training (Mechanics/System/Avionics/Electrical), 2+ years of experience in related fields.

Required Experience: 2 years minimum experience in Aircraft systems and electrical rework or equivalent, 5+ years hands-on experience in the Aviation industry preferred.

Required Licensure/Certifications: Delegated Inspector (after training and qualification period), minimum of 2 X-Plant or FAL Station PDR's fully complete, current and hold corresponding WA's/QA's, (Structures and Mechanical or Electrical & Mechanical cross trained), PDR's and associated WA's and QA's must be maintained (after training and qualification period).

Required Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities: Knowledge of hand, power tools, cutting tools, etc. related to Airbus Manufacturing, willingness to learn and cross-skill within multiple functions and competencies, demonstrated ability to problem solve, knowledge of station safety, quality, FOD, and OSHA Regulations, high degree of flexibility, including shift, excellent communication skills, work preparation and ME processes.

Required Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.

Required Technical Systems Proficiency: G Suite, skilled in SAP and IT tools.

Qualifications

Must be able to work autonomously and be self-driven, able to create and adapt plans to meet deadlines on Safety, Quality and time.

Physical Requirements

Vision: Able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.

Hearing: Able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.

Speaking: Able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.

Equipment Operation: Able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.

Carrying: Able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.

Pushing/Pulling: Able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.

Sitting: Able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.

Squatting/Kneeling: Able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.

Standing: Able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.

Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.

Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site.

Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
