Electrician Technician II
Amentum is seeking an Electrician Technician II to join our operations & maintenance team in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
About the role
This position provides an intermediate level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and repairing fixtures and systems in a data center environment. The Electrician Technician II performs advanced-level preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and documentation of electrical and control needs for facility switchgear, breaker panels, lighting, and process equipment in an industrial setting. Responsibilities include prioritizing work based on client needs, ensuring on-time completion, and maintaining documentation. The role supports site engineering teams to meet electrical needs and may require working near or around 13.8K voltage.
Responsibilities
- Maintain current and future facility electrical systems.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical equipment and control circuits from 24V up to and including 480V AC, electro-mechanical test devices, instrumentation devices, PLCs/ladder logic controllers, and variable frequency drives.
- Support facility electrical expansion projects.
- Adhere to Federal, State, and Local electrical codes and NFPA70e standards.
- Maintain and improve control systems, install electrical sub-panels/services, and buss plugs.
- Communicate effectively with site management and customers to understand requirements, solve complex electrical problems, and provide solutions.
- Identify and correct safety-related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to prevent potential failures.
- Provide instruction, mentorship, and training to less skilled technicians.
- Perform preventive maintenance on process/production equipment as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Respond to work orders, ensuring compliance with codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Recommend activities to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
- Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving them.
- Enforce company policies and safety regulations, including job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout procedures, and proper PPE usage.
- Operate measuring, diagnostic, and testing instruments to provide energy efficiency solutions.
- Use hand tools, laptop computers, and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
- Maintain a strict schedule while demonstrating flexibility for customer benefit.
- Promote and adhere to Amentum’s Safety Structure.
- Perform other duties as assigned by a Manager or Supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
- 2-3 years of experience as an electrician in a data center, industrial environment, maintenance shop, manufacturing facility, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial production systems such as switchgear, MCCs, and capacitor banks.
- Experience working around chemicals, precision equipment, and highly regulated materials.
- Experience troubleshooting complex electrical systems.
- Experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing pumps, motors, gearboxes, supply and exhaust fans, and power transmission components.
- Experience using measurement tools such as micrometers, dial indicators, gauges, and calipers to set tolerances to OEM specifications.

- Repetitive wrist movement for some tasks.

- Ability to climb extension ladders, roof ladders, stepladders, and stairs.
- Flexibility to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, reach, and stretch during the workday.
- Ability to differentiate wire colors for color-coding.
- Ability to read and understand documents or computer screens.
- Ability to use office equipment and operate a computer keyboard for databases, messaging, and document preparation.
- Ability to attend meetings on-site and potentially travel to other Amentum, customer, or vendor locations.
- Ability to communicate via telephone and in one-on-one or group discussions, meetings, and presentations.
- Proficiency in using the full Microsoft product line.
- Ability to move light to medium-weight materials into storage locations.
- Ability to interact professionally with clients despite periods of stress.
Special Requirements
- Wear steel-toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed.
- Ability to cope with job-related stressors while maintaining acceptable performance levels.

Pay
The hourly rate for this position is $26.00 - $29.00 per hour. Factors affecting starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
