Electrician Helper

About the Role

Ace Electric is seeking an Electrician Helper to assist electricians by performing tasks under direct supervision, handling materials, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. This role is ideal for individuals looking to build a career in electrical work through hands-on experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Assist electricians with installing work and handling materials.
• Maintain all materials, tools, and equipment in an orderly fashion and keep the work area clean.
• Demonstrate safe work habits and proper care of tools and equipment.
• Learn and assist with:
  • Basic blueprint knowledge and layout from field sketches.
  • Panel terminations, sizing conduit and boxes, and transformer/motor terminations.
  • Underground conduit installation and overhead/in-wall conduit and cable installation.
  • Wire terminations in J-Box and conduit/box installation in CMU block alongside masons.
  • Pulling wire (feeder, branch, low-voltage) and operating equipment (training provided).
  • Checking and maintaining fluid levels and grease in equipment and vehicles.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Valid state driver’s license preferred.
• High School Graduate/GED preferred; no prior experience required.
• Must pass references, background check, drug screen testing, and have a valid driver’s license.
• Preferred skills:
  • OSHA 10 Hour, CPR, and First Aid trained.
  • Ability to maintain professional appearance and conduct.
  • High levels of productivity, meeting deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
  • Effective and professional communication.

Working Conditions

• Work in all weather elements: heat, cold, rain, or snow, depending on job location and time of year.
• Utilize construction site sanitary facilities (Porta-Johns).
• Must have required personal tools (waist tool belt weighs approximately 30 lbs.).
• Work from ladders, scaffolds, aerial work platforms, catwalks, and other safe work areas at heights up to 90 feet.
• Work in restricted or confined areas such as switch gear-rooms, manholes, utility tunnels, and crawl spaces.
• Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Regularly work 40 hours per week plus overtime as required, including night shifts and weekends.

Physical/Mental Functions

• Positively identify colors of wire and other items as required.
• Comprehend construction drawings, schematics, and specifications.
• Bend conduit using hand benders and safely use power tools.
• Operate construction equipment (e.g., trencher, forklift, aerial work platforms).
• Dig trenches using hand tools or power equipment.
• Comprehend and practice safe work procedures as outlined in the Company Safety Handbook.
• Operate two-handed tools (e.g., cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools).
• Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, work site directions, and written instructions.
• Hear and see well (naturally or with correction).
• Bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.
• Lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting/carrying of objects up to 20 pounds.
• Tolerate prolonged standing and movement on foot.
• Climb ladders (all types) and perform repetitive arm, hand, and finger movements.
• Complete overhead work for full-day assignments.
• Transition from parking areas or streets into construction work areas, including accessing all building levels via OSHA-approved ladders or stairs.
• Secure tools and materials from storage areas to complete assigned tasks.
