About the role
An Electrician Helper will assist with solar installations, electrical service upgrades, repairs, and the rehabilitation of existing electrical systems.
Responsibilities
- Assist electricians with electrical service upgrades, including PSEG connections, mast replacements, meter work, and panel replacements.
- Assist with troubleshooting and repairing electrical circuits and equipment.
- Install, replace, test, and maintain electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments.
- Assist with the installation of solar modules, arrays, racking systems, and mounting hardware.
- Perform basic AC and DC wiring for solar PV systems under appropriate supervision.
- Assist with the mechanical and structural installation of racking, modules, and electrical equipment.
- Follow electrical codes, company procedures, and safe work practices.
- Maintain and properly care for tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Attend training sessions on new products, installation methodology, and safety.
Requirements
- 1+ years as an Electrician helper
- Solar experience is a plus but not required – will need to learn
- Clean driver’s license
- OSHA 10 or 30 (preferred, can obtain after being hired)
- Must have own tools
- Ability to safely terminate live wires and perform an electrical service upgrade
- Must be comfortable with being on roofs with pitched surfaces/cannot have a fear of heights
- Ability to work in extreme weather (hot and sunny as well as colder temperatures)
- Ability to climb ladders/stairs
