ELECTRICIAN (DEPARTMENT OF FACILITIES MANAGEMENT) - COUPE IBEW 134-COUNTYWIDE

Job Summary

Plans layout and wiring of electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment. Installs, repairs, and modifies new or existing equipment and systems to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.

Minimum Qualifications

• Successful completion of an approved and recognized apprenticeship program OR
• Five years full-time work experience as an Electrician
• Possession of a valid driver's license is required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Characteristics

• Thorough and extensive knowledge of the principles, methods, and technologies relative to electrical construction, installation and repair.
• Skill in installing, operating, testing, dismantling and repairing all types of electrical equipment used in building construction.
• Skill in identifying electrical problems, and repairing and maintaining motors, lighting, power, control, fire alarm, high voltage, U.P.S. systems and low voltage systems.
• Proficiency in interpreting blueprints and computing distances.
• Knowledge of city, state and local building codes as they relate to electrical construction.
