Electrician Apprentice (Loudon, TN) - Austin Industrial

This is a full-time maintenance job opportunity with no per diem or relocation funding.

Responsibilities

• Assist the electrician in the assembly, installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
• Assist in diagnosing malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
• Measure and bend conduit.
• Gather tools and supplies to be used at the work site according to instructions from the senior electrician.
• Take measurements and cut wire using a ruler and hand tools.
• Drill holes for wiring using a power drill and pull or push wiring through openings.
• Trace out short circuits in wiring using knowledge of wiring and test meter.
• Assist in lifting, positioning, or fastening objects such as wiring, conduit, and motors.
• Perform minor repairs, such as replacing fuses, light sockets, bulbs, and switches.
• Disassemble defective electrical equipment, replace worn or defective parts, and reassemble equipment.
• Perform work while wearing personnel protective equipment, including but not limited to: rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air-purifying respirators, safety harness, sandblast hoods, fire-resistant coveralls, hard hat, ear plugs, and safety glasses.
• Perform duties requiring full range of mobility in upper and lower body, including reaching overhead, working in various positions (stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, squatting), using hands to handle tools or controls, reaching with hands and arms, climbing stairs, working at heights, and balancing for extended periods.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• No minimum education requirements.
• 6 months of experience preferred.
• Must pass a background check and medical as a condition of employment.
• Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States; Austin Industrial is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position.

Schedule

Full-time maintenance job working 40 hours per week (4/10 schedule).
