Electrician Apprentice

About the role

The Electrical Field Service Technician at the Apprentice level plays a key support role in the repair, replacement, and installation of equipment and systems. This entry-level position provides hands-on training and a foundational knowledge of electrical operations under strict adherence to safety procedures.

Responsibilities

Working under the guidance of experienced electricians, the Apprentice develops essential skills, builds industry expertise, and grows technical abilities in the field, learning through observation and hands-on tasks without direct customer contact. General duties include:

• Taking instruction and learning from experienced technicians and supervisors, executing assigned tasks through repetition and observation.
• Learning basic electrical theory (voltage, current, resistance).
• Learning the use of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for chemicals and lubricants.
• Learning about arc-flash risks and required protective actions.
• Learning the division's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Learning the purpose and reasoning behind safety protocols, best practices, troubleshooting methods, and quality standards.
• Learning to identify common failure causes for equipment and systems.
• Learning to use diagnostic tools such as pressure gauges, multimeters, and temperature sensors.

Qualifications

Prior experience in construction, electrical work, or related field service is helpful. The ideal candidate will have:

• Strong problem-solving abilities and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, management, and customers.
• Ability to persevere through challenges and failures.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and a driving record that qualifies as “insurable” by the company's insurance carrier.
• Must be age 21 or older to drive on behalf of Brandon & Clark.

Physical Requirements

The ability to work in high places, tight or confined spaces, and other adverse locations is required. The candidate must also be able to:

• Lift heavy components up to 75 lbs.
• Stand, walk, climb, push, pull, crouch, and kneel for extended periods.

Work Environment

Work is performed the majority of the time at customer sites, with productive shop work as assigned by the manager. The candidate must be able to work in varying weather conditions, noisy environments, and may be exposed to mechanical, electrical, and environmental hazards. Some travel is required, including out-of-town and overnight assignments, and may include evenings and weekends.
