Position Description

Title: Electrical Trades Instructor
Department: Education
Type: Non-exempt
Reports to: Program Director/Director of Education

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Comprehensive course instruction within specified program
• Provide active input in course development (course descriptions, syllabus creation, textbook material, equipment review)
• Create and revise daily lessons
• Continued professional growth through in-service training and continuing education seminars
• Accurate record keeping of student attendance and academic progress
• Provide extra help to students experiencing difficulty in course work
• Advising students with minor problems and referring major problems to Program Director/Director of Education
• Correct and return quizzes, tests, and lab assignments within 48 hours
• Utilize instructional and audiovisual aids, and available resources in the online classroom
• Demonstrate utilization of community resources through arranging guest speakers, field trips, and class participation in community service events
• Report damaged, broken, or malfunctioning equipment immediately to the Program Director/Director of Education
• Turn in grades within 48 hours of the end of term
• Enhance the curriculum as needed, including devising assignments, worksheets, notes, tests, answer keys, and activities

Required Skills/Education/Experience

• High school diploma/GED required
• 3 years of verifiable experience directly related to residential, commercial, or industrial electrical work, alarm systems, control systems, or a combination of these areas
• Prior teaching experience preferred

Work Environment/Physical Demands

• On-campus position with occasional remote work
• Home office set up, quiet place to work, and ability to hard wire into high-speed internet connection may be required
• May require setup of computer equipment, accommodation consideration available upon request
